The East Milan Red Cross Society in Italy has presented two ambulances, communication equipments and protective clothing to the, Central Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society to enable it attend to emergency health challenges in the Region.

Presenting the items Dr Masini Lino a representative from East Milan Red Cross, said during his visit to the Region last year, he noticed that the Central Region Red Cross lacked certain basic necessities when it comes to responding to emergencies situation in the Region hence his decision to assist with the items to support the Region.

The Central Regional Minister, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, who received the items on behalf of the Region and handed them over to the Red Cross Society, expressed his gratitude to the East Milan Red Cross for the kind gesture

Mr. John Ekow Aidoo, the Regional Manager of the Ghana Red Cross Society, explained that the ambulances received would help the society to position itself in the Region to attend to all emergencies to save and it will also be attached to yet to be constructed First Aid Posts within some selected locations in the Region.

He pointed out that the Ghana Red Cross Society did not only assist in emergency health challenges during natural and man-made disasters, but also take good care of all health issues, which contributes to the building of a healthier society.

Mr. Aidoo gave the assurance that the items would be put to good use to achieve its intended objective.

He also urged philanthropists and other institutions to constantly support the Red Cross to be able to perform its functions effectively.
In attendance were the Regional management committee members lead by the Regional Chairman, Mr. Selete Nyomi and stakeholders such as the Cape Coast Metro Director of Health Services, the Regional Manager for National Road Safety Commission, and the Scheme Manager for National Health Insurance among others.
